Diamonds

The Koppieskraal Diamond Mine is situated in the Northern Cape, South Africa, strategically located along the Orange-Vaal River system, a renowned source of alluvial diamond deposits. This region is particularly notable for being a significant secondary source of alluvial diamonds, with the primary sources believed to include kimberlite pipes from the river's catchment areas, although they remain not entirely defined.

The focus of alluvial diamond mining has shifted in recent years from traditional locations such as Barkly West and Alexander Bay to the mid-Orange region, particularly between Douglas and Prieska, where Koppieskraal is located. The mine taps into this valuable mid-Orange area, offering promising alluvial diamond potential from this historically rich geological system. With the region's reputation for high-quality diamonds, Koppieskraal stands as a key asset in the South African diamond mining landscape.
